Job Title

Senior Engineer, Product Applications

Role Summary

Provide technical leadership for product applications in ADI's power-electronics portfolio. Develop and validate reference designs and demonstration systems, produce customer-facing documentation and training, and support customers and product teams to secure design-ins and resolve issues.

Work with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers. Partial telecommute permitted — 2 days work from home per week.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting product adoption, validating designs, and producing technical collateral.

  • Create and deliver training and education materials for engineers and customers.
  • Design, layout, build, and test application/ demo boards to validate ICs and system performance.
  • Develop reference designs, application notes, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Provide technical support to customers to secure design-ins and sales; support customer visits and qualification activities.
  • Perform system architecture analysis, hardware/software/system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Drive and approve customer-facing collateral and documentation.
  • Recommend corrective actions for quality or performance issues and report problems to product teams.
  • Design models and use system modeling/test tools to facilitate development and verification.
  • Mentor junior-level engineers and share best practices for lab validation and automation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for success in the role.

  • Experience as an Applications Engineer or similar performing hardware, software, and system testing, analysis, and troubleshooting in power-electronics product development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of analog circuitry, DC-DC converter topologies, and control theory.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and testing PCBs to validate products and demonstrate IC performance.
  • Proven ability to design and debug analog and digital circuits and to automate bench testing, including measurement collection and scripting/software authoring.
  • Experience creating customer-facing collateral, application notes, and resolving customer issues.
  • Ability to develop effective training materials for engineers and customers.

Education Requirements

Must have either: a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 2 years of relevant experience as an Applications Engineer; OR a Bachelor’s degree in those fields plus 4 years of relevant experience. Employer will accept foreign education equivalents.
