Senior Engineer - Physical Design
Role Summary
Senior ASIC Physical Design Engineer on a team focused on DDR and HBM PHY hardening for customer ASICs and SoCs. The role covers synthesis, physical implementation, verification, design-for-test (DFT) and ATPG, and requires collaboration with internal and external design teams.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role that also includes technical leadership, customer-facing updates, and mentoring junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior - requires at least 5+ years of relevant ASIC Physical Design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Implement DDR and HBM PHYs for customer ASICs and SoCs within the PHY hardening service line.
- Perform synthesis, physical design (place-and-route), verification, design-for-test (DFT) and ATPG activities.
- Act as a senior member of design teams or as a project design engineer collaborating with internal and external teams.
- Provide regular technical and schedule updates to managers and act as a front-end contact for customers.
- Represent the organization on business-unit or company-wide technical projects.
- Guide and mentor junior peers and contribute to process and quality improvements.
Requirements
Required skills and experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on ASIC Physical Design experience (must).
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as Synopsys Design Compiler (DC), PrimeTime (PT), ICC2/FC, and ICV (must).
- Experience with advanced process technologies such as FinFET (must).
- Experience in synthesis, physical implementation, verification, DFT and ATPG (must).
- Experience with DDR and HBM PHY implementation or integration (important).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously on complex issues (must).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with customers and senior stakeholders (must).
