Senior Engineer Mid-End (Trim & Form)
Role Summary
Lead equipment reliability, performance and continuous improvement for trim & form operations in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. Work with process, R&D, NPI and reliability teams to ensure equipment readiness for new product introduction and sustained high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5 years in the semiconductor industry, with at least 3 years focused on trim and form equipment and tooling.
Responsibilities
Accountable for equipment availability, process support, team leadership and continuous improvement across trim and form operations.
- Manage maintenance, optimization and continuous improvement of trim and form equipment for multiple package types.
- Monitor equipment downtime and develop mitigation strategies using MTBF/MTBA analysis; verify and approve scheduled downtime activities.
- Support new product introductions and qualification to ensure equipment readiness for HVM.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation: control plans, process specifications, SOPs, FMEAs and technical reports.
- Plan and manage technician staffing for 24/7 operations; delegate work and provide clear operational updates.
- Coach and mentor technicians; set KPIs and conduct performance evaluations.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment, tooling and process defects affecting yield and quality.
- Manage spare parts inventory, procurement and vendor coordination for tooling, jigs and fixtures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, MVA and UPH optimization.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for the role; concise, practical criteria.
- Minimum 5 years in the semiconductor industry, with at least 3 years specializing in trim and form equipment and tooling.
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining trim and form machines used in semiconductor packaging.
- Practical knowledge of tooling design, material behavior and tolerances.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as JMP and Minitab and strong technical documentation skills.
- Proven leadership experience managing technicians in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and effective cross-functional communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with GD&T, metrology equipment and advanced tooling validation.
- Prior involvement with technology transfers, NPI ramp-ups and advanced packaging roadmaps.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Mechatronics). No alternative degree or equivalent-experience language specified.
