Senior Engineer II - Quality
Role Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer II supports quality requirements for Aerospace & Defense hi‑rel semiconductor products at the San Jose site. The role focuses on auditing and improving hi‑rel processes, managing reliability test programs and reports, leading corrective actions and customer communications, and performing final inspections and internal audits.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires approximately 7.5+ years of related experience in semiconductor manufacturing, design, processing, or quality assurance.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Review customer requirements against existing procedures and recommend changes.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action teams; prepare 8‑D reports and follow up with customers.
- Monitor and audit hi‑rel processes and provide monthly and quarterly metrics.
- Respond to customer questionnaires and surveys; coordinate or provide required content.
- Manage reliability program: plan and execute product tests, coordinate testing, and update reliability reports.
- Perform final QC inspections and serve as backup for Certificates of Conformance.
- Conduct spot inspections of the test floor and perform internal process and system audits.
- Apply quality tools such as PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, FMEDA and maintain AS9100 compliance.
- Read and interpret component specifications, qualifications, reliability summaries, yield/Cpk, AVL, and BOMs; ensure mil/hi‑rel documentation and protocol compliance.
Requirements
Minimum and preferred qualifications:
- 7.5+ years of related experience in semiconductor manufacturing, design, processing, or quality assurance (must-have).
- Working knowledge of key semiconductor manufacturing processes (must-have).
- Proficiency with quality tools and standards listed above; in‑depth understanding of AS9100 (must-have).
- Experience with semiconductor materials manufacturing processes (preferred).
- Experience with FPGA and ASIC products (preferred).
- Experience performing final QC inspections, data‑pack preparations, and Certificates of Conformance (preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact with customers, management, manufacturing staff, and suppliers worldwide.
- Ability to lead or work in cross‑functional teams to resolve customer or supplier issues in a timely fashion.
- US Person required due to export control restrictions; candidates must provide proof of US citizenship, permanent residency, or protected individual status.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience.
