Senior Engineer II - Design
MicrochipJob Title
Senior Engineer II - Design
Role Summary
Responsible for designing and integrating ASIC blocks for next-generation FPGA/System-on-Chip products that include RISC-V CPUs and associated peripherals. The role spans architecture, RTL development, IP integration, compiled memories, MBIST, and production release.
Work involves collaboration with cross-geography and cross-functional teams including DFT, place-and-route, and logic verification to deliver silicon-ready designs.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 7+ years of professional experience in RTL/ASIC design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, and deliver complex ASIC blocks from specification through production release.
- Develop RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog and implement assertions and unit-level verification.
- Customize and integrate third-party IP into SOC designs.
- Design and integrate compiled memories and implement memory MBIST.
- Execute synthesis and static timing analysis to meet timing and area targets.
- Collaborate with DFT, PnR, and verification teams to close tapeout requirements.
- Perform RTL simulations, debug integration issues, and resolve cross-subsystem problems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 7+ years of professional experience in RTL design, linting, CDC, synthesis, and STA.
- Strong Verilog/SystemVerilog coding skills, including assertions and unit-level verification.
- Experience with digital flows: linting, CDC/RDC, synthesis, and STA tools.
- Experience developing IP from scratch and integrating IP into SOCs.
- Familiarity with microprocessors and on-chip bus structures (AXI/AMBA and similar).
- RTL simulation and debugging experience.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SD/MMC, DDR/LPDDR, or high-speed serial interfaces.
- Experience with Network-on-Chip, IO/mixed-signal designs, or gearing logic.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree with diploma in VLSI, Master of Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree in VLSI/related fields. (Posting lists: "Bachelor with Diploma in VLSI / Master of Engineering / Engineering Degree with experience in VLSI design.")
