Role Summary

Member of the Applications team in Microchip’s Security and Computing Group responsible for developing, testing, and supporting embedded firmware for secure Platform Root of Trust products. Work with cross-functional and multi-site teams to onboard customers, troubleshoot hardware and software integration, deliver technical demos, and produce customer-facing application notes.

Contribute to product verification, validation, and customer adoption of secure embedded solutions.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary duties include:

  • Develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for secure computing products.
  • Onboard customers to Platform Root of Trust devices; provide technical guidance, demos, and documentation.
  • Perform hardware integration testing, system integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage and resolve customer issues via a ticketing system while ensuring timely communication and support.
  • Contribute to internal development efforts and author customer application notes to support product adoption.
  • Use embedded debugging tools (oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, debuggers) for verification and validation.
  • Collaborate with multi-site cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and desirable additional experience.

  • Must-have: Strong C programming in embedded environments and demonstrable firmware development and testing experience for microcontrollers/microprocessors.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with embedded debugging tools and experience in verification and validation of embedded software products.
  • Must-have: Scripting experience in Python and familiarity with command-line build tools.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving, debugging, and professional communication skills; ability to work independently as an individual contributor and to multitask.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with ARM architecture, Linux, Chromium EC firmware, Zephyr Project, FreeRTOS, or MPLAB/KIEL toolchains.
  • Nice-to-have: Basic cryptography and security algorithm knowledge; experience with Azure and IoT platforms.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of I2C, SPI, or other networking and real-time content streaming protocols.
