Job Title
Senior Engineer, HBM Layout
Role Summary
Layout design engineer on the HBM team in Guadalajara responsible for block- and full-chip layout for High Bandwidth Memory used in AI and high-performance computing. The role delivers high-quality analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital layouts while coordinating across Micron's global engineering teams on multiple concurrent projects.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 5+ years of experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include layout implementation, verification, scheduling, and cross-team coordination to meet project milestones.
- Design and develop analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital block layouts and support full-chip integration for HBM products.
- Perform layout verification (LVS, DRC, antenna), quality checks, and maintain documentation.
- Lead planning activities: area/time estimation, scheduling, delegation and execution across multiple projects.
- Ensure on-time delivery of block-level layouts that meet design and manufacturability requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with global engineering teams to resolve layout and integration issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrated hands-on experience.
- 5+ years experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (Planar and FinFET).
- Proficiency with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Hands-on layout experience for critical analog/mixed-signal blocks such as temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
- Strong knowledge of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and parasitic effects.
- Ability to translate design constraints into high-quality, manufacturable layouts and understand layout impact on speed, capacitance, power, and area.
- Preferred: experience supporting multiple tape-outs and managing multiple layout projects with robust physical verification/problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or MTech in Electronics/VLSI Engineering or a related technical field was specified in the source.
