Job Title

Senior Engineer, GPU RTL Design

Role Summary

As a Senior GPU RTL Design Engineer at Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) / Advanced Computing Lab (ACL), you will design and implement complex RTL blocks and subsystems for next-generation mobile GPU IPs. You will collaborate with architecture, power, physical design, verification and silicon teams across multiple GPU functional domains (control, datapath, cache, memory) to deliver production-ready, high-performance designs.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Posting indicates Senior candidates typically have 4+ years of relevant experience; Staff-level candidates are expected to have ~8+ years.

Responsibilities

Contribute across the RTL lifecycle and work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable GPU IP.

  • Define microarchitecture and translate specifications into clean, synthesizable RTL.
  • Implement and integrate GPU blocks and subsystems (control, datapath, cache, memory).
  • Drive design quality and readiness for synthesis, timing analysis, and PPA optimization.
  • Collaborate with verification, physical design, power and system teams to resolve functional, timing, and interface issues.
  • Debug RTL using simulation and emulation; support silicon bring-up and validation activities.
  • Advance RTL methodologies and best practices; lead moderate-to-complex projects and mentor others.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Education requirements are summarized separately below.

  • Proven semiconductor RTL design experience for complex SoC, CPU, or GPU architectures.
  • Hands-on RTL development with Verilog/SystemVerilog, including integration and debug.
  • Familiarity with GPU or high-performance digital design concepts: control logic, datapath, memory systems, and cache design.
  • Experience with front-end ASIC flows: linting, synthesis, timing analysis, and design-quality checks.
  • Ability to evaluate and trade off performance, power, and area (PPA).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, global environment and navigate ambiguous requirements.
  • Must be eligible to access export-controlled information or obtain required authorization.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 4+ years' relevant experience for Engineer-level roles. Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is expected for Senior/Staff roles (Senior: ≥4 years; Staff: ≥8 years). The posting allows equivalent relevant experience where specified.
