Senior Engineer, Field Applications

Role Summary

Provide advanced technical support and solutions for customers through the entire product development lifecycle. Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal engineering, product, and test teams to drive design wins and revenue growth.

Role includes hands-on prototyping, reference design development, mentoring junior FAEs, and delivering technical presentations to stakeholders.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Preferred 5–7 years of relevant technical experience in semiconductor applications or similar customer-facing engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical engagement with customers, solution development, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Provide expert technical consultation and support from concept through production.
  • Analyze customer requirements and architect solutions using ADI products.
  • Develop reference designs, evaluation boards, and demonstration systems.
  • Create application notes, design guides, and technical documentation.
  • Debug complex customer issues and deliver timely resolutions.
  • Collaborate with internal design, product, and test teams to ensure customer success.
  • Mentor junior field applications engineers and share best practices.
  • Develop rapid prototypes and tailored demos for strategic customers.
  • Design custom solutions and integrate ADI products into customer systems.
  • Deliver technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, languages, and other essential qualifications.

  • Advanced prototyping and product demonstration skills.
  • Expertise in solution development and customization for complex use cases.
  • Strong system design and integration experience with attention to overall performance.
  • Proven ability to validate product capabilities against demanding requirements.
  • Experience with digital design, embedded systems, and common protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
  • Programming proficiency in C/C++ or Python.
  • Experience with PCB design and layout and debugging customer systems.
  • Excellent technical presentation and documentation skills.
  • Proven technical leadership and mentoring ability.
  • Business-level English and advanced business/Fluent Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent).
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to support customer engagements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
