Senior Engineer, Failure Analysis
Role Summary
As a Senior Engineer in Failure Analysis you will perform materials and failure analyses on wafer and package samples using advanced analytical tools. You will support Fab Operations and Technology Development for process characterization, yield improvement, line issue resolution, and customer-return investigations.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 5 years of relevant failure analysis experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include performing analyses, documenting findings, and providing cross-functional technical support.
- Conduct failure analysis using SIMS, Auger, XPS, 4PB, nano-indentation, XRD and other analytical tools.
- Interpret data, determine root causes, and prepare technical reports.
- Document failure analysis findings and maintain FA records.
- Maintain FA operating procedures, training materials, and certification specifications.
- Provide FA guidance and support to Fab Operations and Technology Development for process characterization and yield improvement.
- Develop new failure analysis techniques to support emerging technologies.
- Ensure FA equipment upkeep, lab safety, and housekeeping standards are maintained.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and workplace capabilities.
- At least 5 years of relevant failure analysis experience.
- Hands-on experience with SIMS, Auger, XPS and other failure analysis techniques.
- Strong data interpretation and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work effectively in teams; strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated interest in integrated circuit failure analysis and process characterization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or science is required (the posting specifies a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or science, combined with at least 5 years of relevant experience).
