Senior Engineer / Engineer — PDE Process Control Systems
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Engineer / Engineer — PDE Process Control Systems
Role Summary
Responsible for defining and maintaining global DL4 (Defense Line 4) process-control matrices and workflows, driving automation and AI enhancements, and ensuring consistent detection and disposition behavior across manufacturing sites. Works with product engineering, quality, packaging, test, and data teams to improve test coverage, failure analysis, and manufacturing defensibility.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. No specific years of experience stated.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include aligning global DL4 processes, improving automation and analytics, and collaborating across functions to reduce failures and optimize test/process controls.
- Define and maintain global DL4 matrices (turnaround times, overdue metrics, detection compliance, Statistical Bin Limits reactions).
- Ensure sites follow globally aligned DL4 workflows and that DL4 signals behave consistently.
- Drive automation and AI enhancements (YIT, auto-contain, auto-disposition, Smart Manufacturing & AI-assisted detection).
- Monitor and improve assembly and test specifications; review and release test programs.
- Optimize existing DL4 systems through automation and statistical improvements.
- Manage spec limits (analog values, SBL bins, product-level ESD) and test coverage improvements informed by MRBs and FMRs.
- Standardize network dispositions and problem classification across sites.
- Lead failure analysis, failure-analysis modeling, and correlations across defense lines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver projects that enhance DL4 capabilities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for the role.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics.
- Experience in device modeling and simulation using TCAD tools (Silvaco, Sentaurus) and compact modeling.
- Proficiency in circuit-level analog analysis and validation using industry tools such as HSPICE.
- Demonstrated ability to perform rigorous analysis of electrical test data and conduct root-cause analysis for device and package failures.
- Hands-on experience in data analytics, scripting, and statistical modeling (examples: Python, MATLAB, JMP, SQL).
- Experience with failure-mode registers (FMR), failure analysis modeling, and correlating test/field data.
- Effective written and verbal communication and proven ability to collaborate in cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with smart-manufacturing platforms, AI-assisted detection systems, and global process standardization.
Education Requirements
PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field, or M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field with semiconductor industry project experience (preferably in packaging, test, and reliability). Related advanced technical education in equivalent fields is acceptable as specified.
