Senior Engineer - Embedded Software
Role Summary
Senior Embedded Software Engineer in the Software and Digital Platforms group working on ADEF and COMMS products. Develop embedded firmware and customer-facing software for high-performance data converters and communication ASICs with emphasis on security, reliability, and real-time performance.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Expectation: 5+ years designing, developing, and launching high-performance, high-reliability real-time embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include firmware design, device driver development, test and validation, and cross-team collaboration to deliver production-grade embedded software.
- Design and develop high-performance real-time embedded applications on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers using C.
- Develop customer-facing device drivers and APIs (C, C#) for high-speed converters and COMMS products.
- Collaborate with silicon designers, embedded software, applications, and QA teams to define requirements and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain firmware documentation and internal/external technical communications.
- Participate in code reviews and improve software standards and guidelines.
- Develop and execute unit and integration test plans; analyze results and implement fixes.
- Develop and maintain tools for testing and interfacing with products; automate tests where appropriate.
- Provide customer support during beta trials and after release; prepare customer documentation and training materials.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team skill development.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for the role. Nice-to-have items follow.
- Must-have: Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills; experience building customer-facing APIs/SDKs.
- Must-have: Experience with hardware abstraction layers (HAL) and register-level device control; strong knowledge of ARM Cortex architectures.
- Must-have: Experience with real-time embedded systems (bare-metal and RTOS), Git, code review workflows, continuous integration and automated testing, and software QA best practices.
- Must-have: Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques and agile development methods; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with JESD204B/C, RF/mixed-signal systems, FPGA integration, and Python scripting for test automation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
