Senior Engineer - Embedded Software
Role Summary
Senior Engineer in the Software and Digital Platforms Group developing embedded firmware for ADEF and COMMS products. The role focuses on high-performance, reliable, real-time embedded systems that interface with data converters and communication ASICs.
Work with cross-functional engineering teams to implement device drivers, APIs, tests and customer-facing documentation. Location: Cork or Limerick, Ireland. Travel up to 10%.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 5+ years designing, developing and launching high-performance, high-reliability real-time embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include firmware design, implementation, verification and support for embedded products.
- Design and implement high-performance real-time embedded applications on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers using C.
- Develop customer-facing device drivers and SDKs (C/C++; C# usage possible) that expose high-speed converter and communication product functionality.
- Collaborate daily with silicon designers, embedded software, applications, and QA engineers to resolve issues and refine requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and training material for internal teams and customers.
- Participate in code reviews and improve software standards and development processes.
- Develop and execute unit and integration test plans; analyze test results and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain test and interface tools; support CI/automated testing workflows.
- Provide customer support during beta trials and after release; mentor junior engineers.
- Adhere to code origin, licensing, and version-control practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution; additional items are nice-to-have.

Must-have: Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills; experience creating customer-facing APIs/SDKs.

Must-have: Experience with hardware abstraction layers (HAL), register-level device control and ARM Cortex architectures.

Must-have: Experience in real-time embedded systems (bare metal and RTOS), Git, code review processes, and CI/automated testing.

Must-have: Good understanding of software QA best practices, digital signal processing techniques, and agile development.

Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a distributed team.

Nice-to-have: Experience with JESD204B/C, RF or mixed-signal systems, FPGA integration, Python for test automation, and C# for tooling or drivers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is stated. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where applicable.
