Senior Engineer, Electrical Engineering R&D

Role Summary

Lead electrical design engineer on the Electrostatic Chuck R&D team at the i2M Bedford facility. Drive research, design, prototyping, testing, and performance evaluation of next-generation electrostatic chuck technologies for semiconductor OEM applications.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead design, development, and performance evaluation of electrostatic chucks for OEM applications.
  • Perform research, electrical field modeling, and prototyping to meet product and customer requirements.
  • Execute prototype testing and analyze data using statistical methods to produce actionable insights.
  • Define test parameters, specifications, and performance criteria to ensure reliability and feasibility.
  • Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations to improve product performance.
  • Manage new product and technology development projects, including goals, risk assessment, and schedule execution.
  • Select and qualify test equipment, including measurement system analysis (MSA) and engineering validation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally while retaining ownership of technical deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and work requirements:

  • Minimum: 3+ years of R&D or product development experience in a technical discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of electrostatics, electrical circuits, and insulation systems.
  • Experience with high-voltage systems (up to ~20 kV) and hands-on design/build/test of electrical systems.
  • Experience with electrical field modeling and analysis tools (examples: ANSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB, SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with statistical and quality methodologies such as Six Sigma tools, DOE, FMEA, and MSA.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective written/verbal communication.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; employer does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with semiconductor fabrication processes and equipment.

Education Requirements

Ph.D. preferred in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
