Job Title
Senior Engineer, EDG Validation
Role Summary
As a Validation Engineer on the Managed NAND (mNAND) team you will develop and implement validation and characterization strategies, test software and hardware solutions, and support failure analysis to verify product compliance with requirements. The role partners with design, firmware and test teams to define test plans, automate execution, and analyze results.
Use data-driven methods and AI/ML tools to improve test efficiency, defect identification, and validation coverage.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include defining test strategies, implementing and executing automated tests, and diagnosing failures across hardware and protocol layers:
- Develop test plans and cases to verify functional and non-functional requirements (white/grey/black box and system testing).
- Design and implement test frameworks, libraries, and automation to execute and compare results.
- Develop and debug test software (C/C++/Python) and coordinate with firmware and hardware architecture.
- Prepare and execute product validation flows, manage test samples, and monitor/reduce test time.
- Perform failure capture using protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers; produce failure analysis reports with protocol/signal traces.
- Investigate defects, support root-cause analysis, reproduce customer-reported issues, and document bug traces.
- Collaborate on DFMEA, 8D reports, and maintain validation documentation and historical records.
- Identify and apply AI/ML techniques and data analytics to improve defect prediction and validation effectiveness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and responsibilities for the role:
- Practical knowledge of storage products and NAND fundamentals.
- Proficiency in software development and debugging using C, C++ and Python.
- Understanding of storage protocols such as UFS and eMMC and ability to develop protocol-level tests.
- Experience designing test automation and implementing automated test execution and result comparison.
- Ability to use protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers and generate failure-capture setups.
- Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work cross-functionally with design and QA teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience applying AI/ML or generative AI tools to validation, defect analysis, or test optimization.
- Prior experience in NAND/mNAND validation or SSD validation projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
