Senior Engineer - DFT
QualcommJob Title
Senior Engineer - DFT
Role Summary
Work within Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering team on design-for-test (DFT) for ASICs. The role focuses on implementing and validating testability features, driving ATPG/coverage analysis, and delivering test solutions that meet timing and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior position. Typical guidance: 3+ years of ASIC/DFT experience (per role requirements and minimum qualifications).
Responsibilities
The role is responsible for DFT implementation, test verification, and cross-functional coordination to ensure silicon testability and timing closure.
- Implement and validate DFT features including scan insertion and test infrastructure.
- Create and run ATPG and coverage analysis; analyze transition delay test coverage.
- Define test-mode timing constraints and propose timing fixes for violations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for DFT flows (e.g. Perl, shell).
- Simulate and debug test vectors and verify test patterns.
- Perform equivalence checks and apply DFT DRC rules via RTL lint and ATPG tools.
- Collaborate with design, verification, and timing teams; manage multiple concurrent designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and professional abilities.
- 3+ years of ASIC/DFT experience (role-specific).
- Deep knowledge of DFT concepts, scan insertion, ATPG, and coverage analysis.
- Experience with transition delay test coverage and test-mode timing constraint definition.
- Hands-on scripting experience (Perl, shell, or similar) for automation.
- Experience simulating test vectors and performing equivalence checks.
- Familiarity with RTL lint and ATPG tools (Tessent, TetraMax, or equivalent).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; able to work in international teams and multi-task across high-priority designs.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Synopsys Genus, Synopsys TetraMax/DFTMax, and Cadence Encounter Test.
Education Requirements
Degree required: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field with 4+ years relevant experience; OR Master's in those fields with 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years. Equivalent practical experience considered as specified in minimum qualifications.
