Job Title

Senior Engineer - DFT

Role Summary

The Senior Engineer - DFT will plan, design, verify, and test hardware for ASIC projects, focusing on design-for-test (DFT), bring-up, and yield/test optimization. The role collaborates with design, verification, validation, software, and manufacturing teams to meet performance and production schedules.

Experience Level

Senior level. Preferred experience is 5+ years in hardware engineering; minimum experience varies by degree-see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience mapping.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing and validating hardware designs, improving manufacturability and testability, and documenting technical work.

  • Plan, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, including digital/analog/RF modules, FPGA, and DSP systems.
  • Integrate features and functionality into hardware designs according to product roadmaps.
  • Perform complex simulations and analyses to meet power, performance, and area targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, architecture) to implement new requirements and test solutions.
  • Develop and evaluate manufacturing, yield, and bring-up solutions for advanced processes.
  • Characterize reliability of materials and processes; introduce automation and optimizations to improve productivity.
  • Identify potential design, compatibility, or compliance issues and propose mitigations.
  • Produce detailed technical documentation for hardware projects.

Requirements

Core skills and experience expected. Degree specifics and minimum years are listed under Education Requirements.

  • Practical hardware engineering experience with ASIC/board-level design and bring-up.
  • Experience with circuit design (digital and/or analog) and implementing designs to meet PPA targets.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
  • Experience using hardware measurement and test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools).
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide guidance to team members.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with FPGA/DSP systems, test automation, ATPG/DFT methodologies, and technical leadership responsibilities.

Education Requirements

Degrees accepted: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related technical fields. Experience substitution: Bachelor's +3 years of relevant hardware engineering experience; Master's +2 years; PhD +1 year. Preferred: Master's degree and 5+ years of hardware engineering experience. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience where indicated.
