Role Summary

Technical role in the RF Design Enablement team focused on ground rule development and Ground Rule Validation (GRV) as part of Design Manual Engineering. The position supports the Design Rules and Design Manual components of GF Process Design Kits (PDKs) and ensures manufacturability and technology competitiveness across sites.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve designing test structures and DoE, analyzing silicon results, and driving design-rule qualification and improvements.

• Collaborate with program managers, process integration, customer engineers, and benchmarking teams to define features controlled by design rules.
• Create layout DoE and test-structure designs for test vehicles.
• Perform rigorous silicon data analysis and communicate findings to design-rule and integration teams.
• Recommend and champion process or design-rule modifications based on data.
• Support GRV validation for technology transfers to ensure compatibility of design rules with fabrication lines.
• Complete required GRV training and work on technologies in relevant fabs (e.g., Fab9/8 or Singapore).
• Comply with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, competencies, and preferred industry experience.

• Strong data analysis, data mining, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of semiconductor fabrication flow, nanofabrication, solid-state and semiconductor device physics, and DOE methodology.
• Strong interpersonal skills; effective team player with clear written and oral communication.
• Ability to interpret silicon validation results and translate them into design-rule actions.
• Willingness to complete GRV training and collaborate across international teams.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso (schematic/layout) and Calibre (DRC, LVS).
• Preferred: semiconductor industry experience in device, process integration, or unit process areas.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree (BSEE) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or another relevant engineering discipline. Preferred: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Solid State Physics, Materials Science, or related fields.
