Senior Engineer, Design Enablement (Design Manual Engineer)

Role Summary

Senior engineer within the RF Design Enablement / Design Manual Engineering team focused on Ground Rule Validation (GRV) and silicon validation for GF process technologies and PDK design rules.

Work with cross-functional teams across manufacturing sites (US, Germany, Singapore) to develop, qualify, and optimize design rules and validate technology transfers.

Responsibilities

The role is responsible for planning and executing GRV activities, analyzing silicon results, and recommending data-driven modifications to process or design rules.

  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Process Integration, customer engineers, and benchmarking teams to define features controlled by design rules.
  • Create layout designs of experiments (DoE) and design test structures for test vehicles.
  • Perform rigorous silicon data analysis and communicate findings to design-rule and integration teams.
  • Recommend and champion process or design-rule changes based on data to optimize technology portfolios.
  • Support GRV validation of technology transfers to ensure compatibility with fabrication lines.
  • Complete required GRV training and work on assigned technologies (e.g., Fab9/8 or Singapore).
  • Adhere to Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements in all activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills required to perform GRV and data analysis tasks.

  • Strong data analysis, data mining, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of semiconductor process fabrication flow, nanofabrication, solid-state and semiconductor device physics, and design of experiments (DOE) methodology.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso schematic/layout, Calibre DRC/LVS) is a strong plus.
  • Experience in device, process integration, or unit-process areas is preferred (listed under preferred qualifications).

Education Requirements

Required: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid-State Physics, or other relevant engineering discipline. Preferred: M.S. in related fields (MS plus 0–2 years industry experience preferred) or Ph.D. in related discipline.
