Job Title
Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Senior SoC/RTL design engineer responsible for integrating IPs and developing subsystem microarchitecture and RTL for complex SoCs. The role works with global teams including IP owners, verification, performance analysis and project management to deliver systems optimized for performance and power.
Experience Level
Senior; typically 7+ years of relevant experience in digital/SoC design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include subsystem integration, microarchitecture and RTL development, verification support, and system-level performance optimization.
- Understand and review subsystem architecture and incoming IP functionality and interfaces.
- Develop subsystem microarchitecture specifications and RTL.
- Review verification test plans and support debugging and bug fixes.
- Work with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance (PPA trade-offs).
- Propose refinements to IP teams based on system-level integration and usage.
- Run design checks and fix issues (CDC, X-prop, lint, etc.).
- Improve team and organizational design methodologies.
- Guide and support other team members; coordinate with project management on plans and schedules.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role; nice-to-have items are listed separately.
Must-have
- Experience with digital hardware design using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Detailed understanding of current design techniques for complex SoC development and subsystem microarchitecture.
- Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-prop, lint).
- Experience creating clear design specifications.
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python or similar).
- Proven delivery record of sophisticated RTL subsystems within project timescales.
- Ability to make and explain high-level PPA (performance, power, area) trade-offs.
- Experience with synthesis, timing analysis and power management techniques.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with ARM-based designs and/or ARM system architectures.
- Knowledge of memory system interconnect protocols (e.g. AMBA ACE-Lite, AXI).
- Familiarity with processor subsystems, NoCs, security subsystems, PCIe subsystems, or system power management flows.
- Experience with verification methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
