Job Title

Senior Engineer, CPU Implementation & Flow Automation

Role Summary

Execute and optimize RTL-to-GDS implementation flows for high-performance CPU cores. Own block-level implementation, develop and maintain automation, and apply ML-enhanced methods to meet aggressive power, performance, and area (PPA) targets on advanced process nodes.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 3+ years of hands-on Physical Design/Methodology experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement, validate, and maintain production RTL-to-GDS recipes using Synopsys Fusion Compiler.
  • Own end-to-end implementation of medium-sized CPU sub-blocks from synthesis through final GDS sign-off.
  • Drive block-level PPA closure and contribute to hierarchical timing closure (placement, CTS, routing).
  • Apply ML tools (e.g., DSO.ai) for design-space exploration and PPA optimization.
  • Identify, debug, and resolve flow and tool-related issues; collaborate with methodology and core engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with IP teams (SRAM/std cell) to analyze and model PPA impacts.
  • Develop and maintain Tcl/Python automation to improve flow efficiency and reproducibility.

Requirements

Must-haves:

  • 3+ years of practical experience in Physical Design/Methodology and digital implementation.
  • Experience with FinFET nodes (N5/N3); familiarity with N2/GAA is a plus.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Synopsys tools: Fusion Compiler, ICC2, PrimeTime, StarRC.
  • Strong understanding of floorplanning, pin assignment, and timing budgeting in hierarchical designs.
  • Proficiency in Tcl and Python for flow customization, debugging, and data analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve timing, power, and congestion issues in high-speed, high-density blocks.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a structured engineering team.
  • Right to work in India and ability to pass background/reference checks; export-control clearance or the ability to obtain necessary approvals may be required.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
