Role Summary
Provide production support and tooling development for EDA flows used in physical layout, verification, and design of CMOS memory circuits. Work with layout teams to increase productivity, improve flows, and deploy AI-assisted automation for placement, routing and optimization.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5+ years' experience in layout automation, physical verification, or related domains.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Support memory layout teams by diagnosing daily issues and delivering scalable solutions.
- Identify process and flow inefficiencies and propose, develop, and deploy improvements.
- Develop robust layout methodologies focused on reliability and reduced time to market.
- Lead implementation of AI-assisted and automated layout flows, including copilot-based assistants, agentic AI flows, and rule-aware automation to accelerate placement, routing, and optimization.
- Continuously evaluate and integrate new EDA tools and technologies into layout development flows.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Develop AI-enabled methods for semi-automated floorplanning, parasitic estimation, and related automation tasks.
- Collaborate with global teams and stakeholders to deploy and scale workflows.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in layout automation, physical verification, or closely related domains.
- Experience customizing design environments and building automation to improve memory layout productivity.
- Practical experience with place-and-route flows for custom memory layouts and tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Custom Compiler, Pulsic Unity, Itools.
- PDN analysis experience (Totem, VoltusXFA/XA) is preferable.
- Experience troubleshooting DRC, ERC, LVS, DFM, antenna issues with Calibre/ICV is a plus.
- Good understanding of advanced CMOS process rules, EMIR, RC extraction, ESD, and latch-up concerns.
- Strong programming fundamentals and experience with Skill (Cadence), Perl, Python, and Tcl.
- Working knowledge of Linux.
- Proven track record defining, developing, and scaling AI-driven automation for complex layout workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a dynamic, global environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
