Senior Engineer - AMS Verification
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Engineer - AMS Verification
Role Summary
Plan and execute analog and mixed-signal (AMS) verification at block, subsystem, and full-chip levels. Build and maintain mixed-signal simulation environments, develop models and automation, debug complex AMS failures, and collaborate across design, firmware, test, and integration teams to improve product quality and delivery.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typically expects 3+ years of relevant AMS verification experience with a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree with relevant experience is also acceptable.
Responsibilities
Key duties include verification planning, simulation, automation, debugging, and AI-assisted workflow development.
- Plan and execute verification of analog and mixed-signal circuits at block, subsystem, and full-chip levels.
- Develop and maintain full-chip mixed-signal simulation environments combining analog circuitry, digital logic, and firmware.
- Create schematic and behavioral models to enable feasible and accurate full-chip simulations.
- Develop verification plans from datasheets, requirements, interfaces, and risk areas.
- Run static and dynamic simulations to identify leakage paths, power-sequencing issues, and unintended interactions.
- Perform device-level electrical rule checks (SOA, snapback, SFB) and SPF extraction, fanout, connectivity, and coupling checks.
- Execute power-cycling simulations including power-loss and brownout events; run chip-level user-mode simulations correlating analog subsystems, logic, and firmware.
- Debug complex AMS failures, identify root causes, and coordinate closure with design, firmware, and verification partners.
- Develop scripts and reusable automation for regression setup, execution, log processing, waveform analysis, result comparison, and reporting.
- Develop and integrate AI-assisted engineering flows and agent-based tools to automate or accelerate repetitive AMS verification tasks while maintaining validation and human review.
- Prototype engineering agents for requirement-to-test extraction, regression triage, failure clustering, waveform guidance, coverage-gap identification, and report generation.
- Define success criteria, evaluate AI-generated outputs, document limitations, and ensure final verification decisions are grounded in simulations and engineering judgment.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, and other partners to improve quality, reliability, cost, and time-to-market.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Understanding of MOS device physics, including key second-order effects.
- Working knowledge of analog and mixed-signal circuits (current mirrors, bandgap references, op amps, regulators, ADCs, DACs, charge pumps).
- Hands-on AMS verification experience: testbench development, simulation setup, regression execution, waveform analysis, and debug.
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso and SPICE-class simulators (HSPICE, XA, FastSPICE) and mixed-signal co-simulation environments.
- Familiarity with hardware description languages: Verilog/SystemVerilog and Verilog-A/Verilog-AMS.
- Proficiency with Linux/UNIX and scripting (Python, Perl, shell, or equivalent).
- Exposure to AI development concepts (LLMs, prompt-based automation, RAG, agent systems) and ability to validate AI-assisted outputs responsibly.
- Strong debugging mindset, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Deep knowledge of NAND memory architecture and periphery circuits.
- Experience building or maintaining chip-level AMS co-simulation environments and familiarity with LVS/DRC tools.
- Proficiency in Python, APIs, structured data, version control, and software-development practices.
- Experience prototyping AI agents or multi-step AI workflows for verification use cases and measuring automation benefit.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Engineering with relevant experience.
