Job Title
Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Senior Engineer on Arm's Solutions Engineering team responsible for physical implementation, synthesis and methodology development for CPU cores, SoC interconnect and other IP. The role drives implementation quality (timing, area, power), builds and deploys implementation flows and works with RTL/physical-IP teams and partners to improve silicon results.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 4+ years of relevant ASIC implementation or physical-design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include implementation, analysis, methodology development and partner enablement.
- Synthesis, physical design and implementation of CPU cores, system interconnect and other IP.
- Analyze timing, area and power and recommend optimizations to improve IP quality.
- Develop and deploy implementation methodologies to improve efficiency and results.
- Support detailed implementation analysis and data-mining to guide design decisions.
- Collaborate with RTL and physical-IP teams to drive analysis and optimization across blocks and top level.
- Convert R&D concepts into practical implementation solutions and enable partners to achieve high quality of results.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience, followed by notable nice-to-have items.
- 4+ years proven experience in ASIC implementation, physical design, STA and timing closure, structured clock tree design, PDN analysis, DFM and physical verification.
- Experience across the IC design flow from RTL through to GDSII, including synthesis, floorplanning, place-and-route, CTS, logical and physical optimization, timing closure and power analysis.
- Proven programming and scripting skills (examples: Tcl, Perl, R, Make).
- Ability to communicate technical insights clearly and influence distributed international teams.
- Initiative and problem-solving mindset; experience adopting and promoting new implementation techniques.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Arm-based SoCs.
- Experience with additional programming/scripting and presentation languages (sh, csh, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, HTML, Python, Ruby).
- Low-power design techniques (power gating, voltage/frequency scaling).
- Verilog RTL design and ATPG/production testing experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
