Senior Emulation Engineer

Role Summary

Perform ASIC emulation and verification activities for IP blocks and SoCs within the ASICS Engineering group. The role covers architecture, design modeling, verification, validation, implementation and documentation to support high-performance, low-power silicon development.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Preferred experience: 3+ years in ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work. Minimum experience varies by degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Deliver emulation and verification implementations and support block/SoC integration across hardware and software teams.

• Define, model, design, verify, validate, implement and document IP (block/SoC) development.
• Create architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs and system simulations driven by system requirements.
• Collaborate with software and hardware architecture teams to develop and execute implementation strategies.
• Evaluate flow from high-level design to synthesis, place-and-route, timing, power and verification; or equivalent custom circuit layout flows.
• Use emulation/verification flows and EDA tools (e.g., RTL->GDS, Virtuoso) to enable block/SoC or IC package design.
• Produce detailed technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and communicate technical decisions to stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

• Practical ASIC design and verification experience (block/SoC level) and hands-on exposure to implementation and integration tasks.
• Familiarity with RTL flows, synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, or custom circuit design/layout flows.
• Experience with emulation platforms, verification methodologies and testbench development.
• Proficiency with architecture and design tools; ability to translate system requirements into design and verification plans.
• Scripting and programming skills for automation and verification tasks.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: prior experience with SoC integration, EDA toolchains such as Virtuoso, and advanced verification methodologies.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years of ASIC-related experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 1+ year of ASIC-related experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field. Preferred: Master’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Equivalent practical experience considered where noted.
