Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Analog DevicesJob Title
Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design and implementation of embedded platforms for RF front-ends and transceivers, focusing on firmware, hardware integration, and system-level performance. Work with RF, silicon, and hardware teams to prototype, validate, and optimize real-time embedded systems for wireless applications.
Role includes hands-on R&D, system validation in lab environments, and mentoring junior engineers. Travel up to 10% and work during standard day shift.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 5+ years of relevant embedded systems and RF experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, development, validation, and cross-functional leadership for embedded RF platforms.
- Define and implement embedded system architectures for RF front-end and transceiver platforms.
- Develop firmware and low-level drivers for RF control, calibration, and signal processing.
- Integrate RF hardware (PAs, LNAs, filters, tuners, switches, transceivers) with embedded software.
- Research and prototype adaptive control methods (beamforming, dynamic tuning, coexistence).
- Prototype and validate algorithms for RF calibration, power management, and signal integrity.
- Collaborate with silicon and RF design teams to co-optimize hardware/software interfaces.
- Develop automated test frameworks and perform system-level debugging, profiling, and optimization for real-time performance.
- Validate compliance with wireless standards (LTE, 5G NR, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth) and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to documentation and IP development.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering with a focus on RF systems.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and embedded software development for real-time systems.
- Experience with microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, and SoCs used in RF applications.
- Solid understanding of RF system design, calibration, and embedded control.
- Familiarity with lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes) for system validation.
- Experience developing automated test frameworks and performing system-level debugging and profiling.
- Comfort collaborating across RF, silicon, and hardware teams and providing technical leadership.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, and hardware abstraction layers.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing for RF applications.
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet).
- Track record of patents, publications, or contributions to embedded RF technologies.
Education Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
