JabilJob Title
Senior Embedded Linux / Android Camera Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for end-to-end camera and video integration across embedded Linux and Android platforms. The role focuses on low-level software and hardware bring-up, driver development, multimedia framework integration, and image-quality tuning for commercial camera products.
Work with global engineering stakeholders to own technical investigations, architecture decisions, and long-term platform stability for camera subsystems used in conferencing and enterprise products.
Experience Level
Senior — 8+ years embedded/low-level development experience, with 4–5+ years specifically on Linux/Android BSP and camera or multimedia subsystem integration.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities and expected deliverables:
- Lead cross-platform camera architecture and board bring-up across Linux and Android.
- Develop and maintain Linux camera drivers, including V4L2 and sub-device drivers.
- Integrate, maintain, and optimize Android Camera HAL components.
- Design and validate Device Tree / DTBO overlays (power sequencing, reset, MCLK).
- Develop automated media-graph validation, streaming verification, and long-running stress tests.
- Tune image quality (IQ) pipelines using vendor IQ tools and collaborate on ISP configuration.
- Validate and troubleshoot CSI timing, PHY configuration, and sensor integration with hardware teams and vendors.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation; support performance optimization and platform stability.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 8+ years embedded/low-level development; 4–5+ years on Linux/Android BSP and camera/multimedia integration.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills and experience debugging kernel and user-space interactions.
- Experience with Linux kernel camera drivers, V4L2 (including sub-device drivers), and sensor bring-up.
- Proven experience integrating and maintaining Android Camera HAL.
- Practical knowledge of Device Tree / DTBO overlays, power sequencing, reset, and MCLK configuration.
- Experience with ISP and image-quality pipelines, including 3A (AE, AWB, AF), LSC, and TNR.
- Familiarity debugging MIPI CSI-2, CSI timing/PHY issues, and complex camera pipelines across kernel and user space.
- Experience with Git/Gerrit and build systems such as Yocto or AOSP; solid understanding of embedded Linux and Android system architecture.
- Experience with camera validation and debugging frameworks and strong verbal/written communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Qualcomm CHI pipeline and proprietary ISP/HAL implementations.
- Familiarity with multimedia frameworks such as GStreamer or OpenCV.
- Experience with high-resolution or multi-camera systems and automated validation frameworks.
- Understanding of Android CTS/GTS compliance and metadata policies.
