Senior Embedded Engineer
AndurilJob Title
Senior Embedded Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Advanced Infrared Solutions (AIRS) team in Hudson, NH to design and mature embedded hardware and FPGA-based firmware for cooled infrared cameras and subsystems. You will work with electrical, software, and systems engineers to move designs from architecture and prototypes through ground and flight testing into production.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities for FPGA/embedded firmware development and integration.
- Lead FPGA architecture, establish standards, and run design/review processes.
- Design, simulate, and integrate RTL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog) into FPGAs or SoCs for performance, area, and power targets.
- Develop test benches and perform validation using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and simulation tools.
- Collaborate on hardware/software integration, processor bring-up, and board support packages.
- Optimize algorithms for hardware acceleration and efficient use of on-chip buses (e.g., AXI/AXI-Stream).
- Build prototypes, support ground and flight testing, and transition designs toward production readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical qualifications and eligibility.
- 10+ years of professional experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices.
- Expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design.
- Experience with industry FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
- Strong hardware/software debugging skills using standard lab equipment.
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with multi-gigabit SERDES, DDR memory buses, Ethernet MAC/PHY, SPI, I2C.
- Embedded software experience (timers, interrupts, peripheral drivers) and embedded Linux knowledge (device trees, drivers, bootloaders).
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, and infrared image sensor technology.
Education Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is typically required.
