Senior Embedded Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Embedded Engineer will design and implement firmware, applications, and supporting hardware for Efficient Computer’s ultra-low-power processors. This role includes developing firmware for simulation, RTL emulation, and silicon, maintaining a bare-metal SDK, porting RTOSes, and participating in pre- and post-silicon validation and bring-up activities.
This is a hands-on engineering role on a small interdisciplinary team building next-generation energy-efficient embedded systems.

Senior — requires 8+ years of embedded firmware and application development experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on firmware/application development, hardware bring-up, and silicon validation. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deploy firmware and applications in software simulation, RTL emulation, and on silicon.
- Enhance and maintain the low-level SDK and standard libraries.
- Port RTOSes to new processor architectures and integrate them with the platform.
- Perform silicon validation, verification, and first-silicon bring-up and checkout.
- Design and develop bring-up test hardware, evaluation kits (EVKs), and perform board bring-up.
- Collaborate with digital design and compiler teams to debug silicon and hardware issues.
- Support customers with board development reviews and recommended solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 8+ years developing firmware and applications for embedded systems.
- 8+ years of experience programming in C and/or C++.
- Experience porting RTOSes to new processor architectures.
- Experience debugging new silicon and hardware prototypes in the lab.
- Deep knowledge of at least one embedded platform (e.g., MSP430, STM32, Ambiq Apollo, PIC32, or similar).
- Familiarity with industry-standard embedded development and debugging tools.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Comfortable working at a start-up engineering pace.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with PCB board design.
- Solid grasp of computer architecture concepts.
