Job Title

Senior Embedded Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Embedded Engineer will design and implement firmware, applications, and supporting hardware for Efficient Computer’s ultra-low-power processors. This role includes developing firmware for simulation, RTL emulation, and silicon, maintaining a bare-metal SDK, porting RTOSes, and participating in pre- and post-silicon validation and bring-up activities.

This is a hands-on engineering role on a small interdisciplinary team building next-generation energy-efficient embedded systems.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 8+ years of embedded firmware and application development experience.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on firmware/application development, hardware bring-up, and silicon validation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deploy firmware and applications in software simulation, RTL emulation, and on silicon.
  • Enhance and maintain the low-level SDK and standard libraries.
  • Port RTOSes to new processor architectures and integrate them with the platform.
  • Perform silicon validation, verification, and first-silicon bring-up and checkout.
  • Design and develop bring-up test hardware, evaluation kits (EVKs), and perform board bring-up.
  • Collaborate with digital design and compiler teams to debug silicon and hardware issues.
  • Support customers with board development reviews and recommended solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 8+ years developing firmware and applications for embedded systems.
  • 8+ years of experience programming in C and/or C++.
  • Experience porting RTOSes to new processor architectures.
  • Experience debugging new silicon and hardware prototypes in the lab.
  • Deep knowledge of at least one embedded platform (e.g., MSP430, STM32, Ambiq Apollo, PIC32, or similar).
  • Familiarity with industry-standard embedded development and debugging tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Comfortable working at a start-up engineering pace.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with PCB board design.
  • Solid grasp of computer architecture concepts.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
