Senior Embedded Crypto Software Developer (m/f/d)
Role Summary
The role develops and integrates cryptographic software for embedded products, focusing on algorithm implementation, secure integration, and countermeasures against physical attacks. The position sits in NXP's Competence Center Crypto & Security and works across architecture, firmware, evaluation, and certification teams to deliver secure solutions for ARM Cortex-M and RISC-V platforms.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5+ years of relevant industry experience in cryptography and embedded security (or equivalent advanced degree plus experience).
Responsibilities
Deliver secure cryptographic software and take ownership of technical topics across the product lifecycle.
- Specify and implement cryptographic algorithms (including Post-Quantum Cryptography) and secure software across platforms based on functional requirements.
- Design, specify, and implement software countermeasures against Side-Channel Analysis (SCA) and Fault Injection (FI).
- Collaborate with security architects, evaluation teams, OS and firmware teams to ensure secure integration and robust designs.
- Perform code reviews, architectural contributions, technical planning, and take ownership of assigned topics.
- Work with test and platform support engineers to ensure product quality.
- Support product certification activities and security evaluations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, plus a collaborative mindset and strong debugging ability.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in cryptography and embedded security, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding and implementation experience with cryptographic primitives (e.g., ECC, RSA, AES, SHA-2/SHA-3).
- Solid embedded software development experience in C and Assembly.
- Good knowledge of microcontroller architectures (for example, ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V).
- Knowledge of hardware and software countermeasures against side-channel and fault-injection attacks.
- Strong debugging and analysis skills; proactive team player with ownership mentality.
- Nice-to-have: experience in Post-Quantum Cryptography.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Rust.
Education Requirements
BSc, MSc or PhD in mathematics, cryptography, computer science, electronic/electrical engineering, information technology, or a relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of advanced degree and relevant experience.
