Senior Electrical Engineer, Analog & Mixed-Signal
Voyant PhotonicsJob Title
Senior Electrical Engineer, Analog & Mixed-Signal
Role Summary
Lead the analog and mixed-signal hardware design for compact, high-performance LiDAR modules based on silicon photonics. The role defines architecture, leads bring-up and validation, and sets technical standards across hardware teams and supplier relationships.
Work cross-functionally with firmware, ASIC, and systems teams to ensure signal and power integrity, manufacturability, and performance at scale.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 10+ years of hands-on hardware development and leadership setting technical direction for product lines.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of analog and mixed-signal hardware for LiDAR modules.
- Define analog/mixed-signal architecture (TIAs, ADCs, power delivery) for next-generation LiDAR modules.
- Establish and enforce signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC design standards and review processes.
- Lead bring-up, lab characterization, validation planning, and failure analysis across programs.
- Make design trade-offs balancing performance, cost, integration complexity, and manufacturability.
- Mentor hardware engineers and provide technical direction in cross-functional design reviews.
- Develop supplier and component strategies for critical analog parts and engage vendors on custom components.
- Represent hardware engineering in technical discussions with customers, partners, and investors.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role; a few items that are beneficial are listed as nice-to-have.
- Must-have: 10+ years of hands-on hardware development with end-to-end ownership of high-volume systems and demonstrated technical leadership.
- Must-have: Deep expertise in low-noise analog design and high-speed digital interfacing; authority on SI/PI and EMI mitigation.
- Must-have: Experience driving designs through DFM, reliability testing, yield optimization, and production readiness.
- Must-have: Proficient with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (examples: SPICE) and practical lab measurement using GHz-range oscilloscopes and VNAs.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with specific SI/PI tools (e.g., HyperLynx, SiWave), Altium, or equivalent CAD and simulation tools.
- Nice-to-have: Experience integrating FPGAs, microcontrollers, and custom analog ASICs; vendor management for custom analog components.
Education Requirements
