Job Title
Senior EDA Tools Software Engineer
Role Summary
Technical hands-on leader responsible for defining and delivering an end-to-end automation platform for SoC chassis (non-compute infrastructure such as interconnects, protocol bridges, clock/reset/power, security, debug/trace/analytics, RAS, address maps, firmware tables).
Work closely with architecture, RTL, verification, and SoC integration teams to translate architectural requirements into generated RTL, registers, verification collateral, and integration artifacts. Mentor junior engineers and drive tool quality and delivery.
Experience Level
Senior β role expects experienced engineers. Minimum experience guidance in the posting indicates approximately 8β9+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will design, implement, and deliver a chassis automation tool and associated flows. Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, and implement a scalable, maintainable chassis automation platform and schema.
- Translate chassis and interconnect architecture/specifications into generated outputs: RTL, RDL, verification collateral, timing, and integration artifacts.
- Develop flows for topology generation, parameter derivation, register definition, and collateral generation.
- Integrate with frontend and backend EDA flows and validate generated artifacts (RTL/Verilog, SDC, RDL) for correctness and consistency.
- Build automation for PPA analysis and configuration trade-off evaluation.
- Drive end-to-end execution from concept through deployment and maintenance; deliver to multiple internal customers while balancing schedules and priorities.
- Participate in cross-functional technical reviews and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; establish software design, testing, and maintainability best practices.
- Collaborate beyond immediate scope to unblock program execution and ensure delivery quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for initial consideration. Preferred items are noted separately.
- 8β9+ years total experience in CAD/EDA tooling, design automation, or semiconductor development (posting ties total years to degree level).
- 5+ years building scalable, maintainable software systems and frameworks (not one-off scripts).
- 4+ years programming in Python or similar, including designing and validating structured schemas (JSON/YAML).
- 2+ years working knowledge of digital SoC design concepts: RTL hierarchy, synthesis flows, and parameterized IP design.
- 2+ years familiarity with SystemVerilog to review and validate generated design outputs.
- 2+ years experience with templating systems or code-generation frameworks for structured RTL or collateral generation.
- 1+ years with version control (Git), code reviews, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD practices.
-
Nice-to-have: experience building EDA tooling, exposure to industry EDA tools and flows, knowledge of NoC/interconnect protocols (AXI, CHI, PCIe, UCIe), familiarity with IP packaging/configuration (e.g., IP-XACT), graph-based algorithms for topology generation, and GUI development.
Education Requirements
Posting requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with ~9+ years experience) or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with ~8+ years experience). The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degrees. Fields mentioned: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; related technical fields are acceptable.
