Job Title
Senior EDA Tools Software Engineer
Role Summary
Technical hands-on senior software engineer responsible for defining and delivering an end-to-end automation platform for SoC chassis (non-compute infrastructure) components. The role involves designing the tool, schema, and workflows to convert architectural intent into generated artifacts (RTL, register definitions, verification collateral, integration files) and working closely with architecture, RTL, verification, and SoC integration teams.
Expect to lead delivery across multiple programs, drive technical direction, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 9+ years of relevant experience in CAD/EDA tooling, design automation, or semiconductor development.
Responsibilities
Deliver and operate a chassis automation framework that translates architecture into implementation-ready artifacts.
- Architect, design, and implement a scalable, maintainable chassis automation tool and schema.
- Translate chassis and interconnect specifications into generated outputs such as RTL, RDL, register definitions, SDC, and verification collateral.
- Develop automation flows for topology generation, parameter derivation, and collateral generation.
- Integrate with frontend and backend tool flows and implement validation and quality checks for generated artifacts.
- Build automation for PPA analysis and configuration trade-off evaluation.
- Drive end-to-end execution from concept through deployment and maintenance, delivering to multiple internal customers.
- Participate in technical reviews, incorporate cross-functional feedback, and establish best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to improve software design, testing, and maintainability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to be considered for this role; preferred items listed separately.
-
Must-have: 9+ years of experience in CAD/EDA tooling, design automation, or semiconductor development.
- Proficiency in Python (or similar) and experience building scalable, maintainable software systems and frameworks.
- Solid understanding of digital SoC design concepts, including RTL hierarchy, synthesis flows, and parameterized IP design.
- Experience designing and validating structured schemas using JSON or YAML.
- Working knowledge of SystemVerilog to validate generated design outputs.
- Experience with templating systems or code generation frameworks for RTL/collateral generation.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: version control (Git), code reviews, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD.
-
Nice-to-have: familiarity with NoC or interconnect protocols (AXI, CHI, PCIe, UCIe), IP packaging/IP-XACT, graph algorithms for topology generation, exposure to industry EDA tools and flows, GUI development experience, or prior semiconductor product development experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is listed; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. Degree fields mentioned include EE and CS; candidates with comparable industry experience, internships, or academic projects are considered.
