Job Title

Senior DTCO Engineer, CPU Physical Design

Role Summary

Evaluate advanced semiconductor process nodes and optimize technology choices and physical-design solutions for next-generation CPU microarchitecture. Coordinate with foundries, IP teams, and hardware design organizations during early technology development and pathfinding.

Experience Level

Senior - 5+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical evaluation, implementation analysis, and cross-team coordination.

  • Evaluate advanced process technologies and recommend technology choices for next-generation CPUs.
  • Run synthesis, place-and-route, and static timing analysis to assess effects on power, performance, and area (PPA).
  • Use early pathfinding blocks to identify implementation bottlenecks and project technology-node scaling.
  • Collaborate with foundry, IP, and hardware design teams during early technology development phases.
  • Analyze competitive products and benchmarks to inform design and technology trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience are listed first; additional preferred strengths follow.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in advanced-node silicon design or physical-design methodology.
  • Strong ability to analyze physical implementation constraints and develop technology solutions to improve power, performance, and area.
  • Proficiency with scripting (Python, Tcl, Perl, or similar) and familiarity with AI tools.
  • Experience analyzing timing, clocking, and physical-design trade-offs and communicating recommendations across organizations.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DTCO or technology pathfinding for high-performance CPUs, GPUs, or AI accelerators.
  • Expertise in advanced circuit and physical-design optimization, clocking, memory, or timing-closure techniques.
  • Proven track record of translating test-chip or silicon data into measurable product improvements and demonstrated technical leadership.

Education Requirements

Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
