Senior Director of Edge Microprocessor Innovation
Role Summary
Lead the i.MX edge microprocessor portfolio strategy and align R&D, engineering and business functions to drive efficient new product introduction and profitable growth. This individual contributor role works across product management, marketing, finance and hardware/software engineering to define multi‑year plans and optimize execution for MPUs and associated power solutions.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 10+ years in product management, product marketing, or systems engineering for MPUs, SoCs, or embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include portfolio strategy, technical influence, and cross-functional leadership to deliver the i.MX applications processor roadmap.
- Define and own the i.MX microprocessor R&D portfolio strategy and multi-year roadmap.
- Coordinate new product introduction processes to increase R&D efficiency and scale.
- Provide technical influence on architecture decisions for heterogeneous compute, AI acceleration, memory and interconnects.
- Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, product, marketing, sales, applications and operations throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain long-term product and IP strategies aligned with market trends in physical AI, multimedia, networking and vision.
- Perform competitive and lifecycle analysis to prioritize technology and IP investments.
- Align resources and work with finance and corporate strategy to produce business cases and 5-year plans.
- Represent product strategy to executive stakeholders and translate technical concepts into executive messaging.
- Travel domestically and internationally to engage partners and internal teams.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience required for the role.
Must-have:
- 10+ years in product management, product marketing, or systems engineering for MPUs, SoCs, or embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of heterogeneous compute architectures (CPU/GPU/NPU/DSP), memory systems and interconnects.
- Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, frameworks and toolchains for edge deployment.
- Experience with edge AI use cases such as computer vision, natural language processing and sensor fusion in embedded systems.
- Proficiency in market and competitive analysis and developing business cases.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, communication and executive presentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with embedded safety concepts (ASIL/SIL), reliability and security.
- Experience with embedded software development, Linux/RTOS and developer toolchains.
- Experience influencing executive stakeholders and cross-organizational alignment.
Education Requirements
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering required. MS or MBA is a plus.
