This executive role defines CPU development strategy, partners across architecture, software, firmware, product engineering, and manufacturing, and drives multiple high-performance processor programs from concept through high-volume production.
Experience Level
Senior β executive director level. Requires extensive technical and management experience leading CPU and SoC programs and large, geographically distributed engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, program execution, and organizational development:
- Lead global teams for ARM CPU RTL design, functional verification, emulation, FPGA prototyping, and silicon validation.
- Drive execution of ARM CPU and SoC programs from architecture through production silicon and manufacturing readiness.
- Define CPU design and verification roadmaps aligned with product strategy and long-term technology investments.
- Collaborate with CPU Architecture on microarchitecture, memory hierarchy, cache coherency, interconnects, and chiplet approaches.
- Establish verification infrastructure, EDA flows, automation, and engineering methodologies to improve productivity and quality.
- Oversee silicon bring-up, debug, characterization, yield improvement, reliability, and post-silicon validation.
- Partner with Software, Firmware, AI, Security, and Product Engineering on hardware/software co-design.
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering organizations across multiple locations.
- Provide executive-level technical decision-making and represent CPU initiatives to senior leadership.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership experience (concise):
- 15+ years designing ARM-based CPUs, processors, or complex SoCs.
- 12+ years leading engineering teams responsible for CPU design, verification, or semiconductor product development.
- 10+ years managing cross-functional programs through the full silicon lifecycle (architecture, RTL, verification, validation, bring-up, production).
- 10+ years with CPU microarchitecture, multicore design, cache coherency, memory hierarchy, and high-performance compute architectures.
- 10+ years integrating complex SoCs using interconnects such as AMBA AXI, ACE, or CHI.
- 8+ years leading functional verification (including UVM), emulation, FPGA prototyping, or system validation.
- 8+ years leading post-silicon bring-up, debug, characterization, yield improvement, or manufacturing readiness.
- 8+ years managing geographically distributed engineering teams and partnering with software, firmware, product engineering, and manufacturing.
- 5+ years establishing or improving engineering methodologies, EDA flows, verification infrastructure, CI, or design automation.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing high-performance server-class ARM processors or data-center SoCs.
- Experience with ARM Neoverse or other high-performance ARM implementations.
- Experience with chiplet-based architectures, UCIe, or Network-on-Chip technologies.
- Strong background in coherent interconnects (CHI, ACE) and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, HBM, CXL, Ethernet).
- Experience supporting AI, cloud infrastructure, HPC, or data-center semiconductor products.
- Experience with FPGA-based or heterogeneous compute solutions.
Education Requirements
Degree and experience combinations specified in the posting: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 20+ years semiconductor engineering experience; OR Master's degree in a related field with 18+ years; OR Ph.D. in a related field with 15+ years. Preferred: advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in EE/CE/CS or related technical discipline.
