Job Title

Senior Digital Physical Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead physical design and tapeout for digital and mixed‑signal ASICs, delivering foundry‑ready GDS. Work within R&D and with cross‑functional teams to align architecture, implement physical design, and resolve silicon issues.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires approximately 20 years of relevant ASIC or physical‑design experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for end‑to‑end physical implementation, verification, and delivery of ASIC projects.

  • Lead RTL‑to‑GDS flow and manage tapeout activities and sign‑off.
  • Perform floorplanning, placement & routing, PNR and timing closure.
  • Conduct static timing analysis (STA), formal verification, and physical verification.
  • Implement low‑power techniques, clock distribution, and EMIR analysis.
  • Develop and maintain tool flows; automate tasks and scripting to improve productivity.
  • Coordinate with foundries and vendors to meet project milestones and deliverables.
  • Work with system architects and IP teams to ensure physical constraints are met.
  • Perform close sign‑off checks and troubleshoot post‑silicon issues as needed.

Requirements

Must‑have technical skills and demonstrated leadership in physical design.

  • Extensive ASIC physical design experience, including timing closure, STA, low‑power design, clock distribution, EMIR analysis, and physical verification.
  • Proficiency with Innovus, Tempus, Voltus, and Genus (or equivalent place-and-route, timing, and power tools).
  • Demonstrated tapeout experience and ability to resolve complex silicon and application issues.
  • Experience in task automation and scripting for tool flow development.
  • Strong fundamentals in digital architecture, DSP, and IP validation.
  • Proven leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (BS/BE/MS in EE/CE). The posting specifies these degrees; the role also states approximately 20 years of relevant experience.
