Job Title

Senior Digital Design - MCU

Role Summary

Lead digital IC design for complex microcontroller System-on-Chip (SoC) projects within NXP's Catania MCU team, coordinating with analog, mixed-signal, software, verification and physical-design disciplines. Deliver RTL, synthesis, timing, verification and post-silicon validation to meet performance, power and area targets.

The role includes technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to design methodology improvements.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies a minimum of 5+ years of digital IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include end-to-end digital design, verification and integration.

  • Lead full digital IC design flow: specification, architecture, RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog), synthesis, static timing analysis, formal verification and power analysis.
  • Define and implement design-for-test (DFT) and support testability verification.
  • Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal and software teams to define interfaces and ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop digital architectures and methodologies to meet performance, power and area objectives.
  • Perform simulation, formal verification and hardware emulation for comprehensive verification.
  • Participate in post-silicon validation and debug to identify and resolve issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers, lead technical discussions and drive continuous improvement of design processes.
  • Produce detailed design documentation, specifications, test plans and design reviews.

Requirements

Must-haves are listed first; nice-to-have items noted when applicable.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in digital IC design.
  • Expertise in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design and verification.
  • Proven experience with industry EDA tools for synthesis, STA, formal verification and simulation (examples: Synopsys Design Compiler/PrimeTime, Cadence Genus, Synopsys Formality, VCS, QuestaSim).
  • Strong understanding of digital design principles including clock-domain crossing (CDC), power integrity and low-power design techniques.
  • Experience scripting for automation and flow optimization (Python, Tcl, Perl).
  • Familiarity with mixed-signal integration and verification methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative and lead technical teams.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
