Job Title

Senior Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for end-to-end physical implementation and sign-off of major IP blocks or full-chip ASIC/SoC designs. Works on floorplanning, place-and-route, timing closure and physical verification in collaboration with RTL, DFT, verification, CAD and foundry teams.

Includes improving and automating implementation flows, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring manufacturability and PPA targets are met.

Experience Level

Senior-level; typically 5+ years of ASIC/SoC physical design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own end-to-end physical implementation for IP blocks or full-chip designs.
  • Develop and optimize floorplans, macro placement, IO ring planning and power grid design.
  • Execute place-and-route, clock tree synthesis and drive timing closure using tools such as Cadence Innovus.
  • Perform static timing analysis and drive sign-off across PVT corners and operating modes.
  • Identify and resolve physical verification issues (DRC/LVS/ERC) with process/CAD/foundry teams.
  • Automate design flows (hierarchical PNR, IO ring automation, flash/power-gating flows) to improve productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with RTL, DFT, verification, package and library teams to meet PPA and project milestones.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and document best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

  • 5+ years of hands-on ASIC/SoC physical design at advanced nodes (e.g. 40, 28, 22, 16 nm).
  • Strong proficiency in floorplanning, PNR, STA and physical verification using industry EDA tools.
  • Experience scripting and automating flows with Tcl, Perl or Python.
  • Understanding of fabrication process limitations, ESD/IR/EM analysis and robust sign-off methodologies.
  • Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Shift: day shift (1st Shift).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
