Job Title

Senior Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineer responsible for digital design and FPGA prototyping of complex system-on-chip (SoC) blocks. The role works with architecture, implementation, verification, analog and product teams to take RTL to silicon and ensure designs meet timing, area, power, and test goals.

This position is based in Europe with openings listed for Valencia (Spain), Catania (Italy), and Cork (Ireland). Travel ~10%.

Experience Level

Senior / Experienced. The posting targets senior engineers; no explicit years-of-experience stated (typical expectation for senior roles is 7+ years).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include design, prototyping, and cross-team integration of digital blocks for ASIC/SoC products.

  • FPGA prototyping and creation of self-checking models for validation.
  • Architectural design and specification of complex IP blocks and subsystems, especially SoC components with processors.
  • RTL design in Verilog/SystemVerilog (including AHB/AXI interfaces and ARM processor integration).
  • HW/SW codesign and mixed-signal integration / co-simulation with analog teams.
  • Define timing constraints and perform static timing analysis; perform timing, power and CDC analysis.
  • Work with implementation teams to convert RTL to silicon and support manufacturing test and DFT requirements.
  • Collaborate with verification, test, application, and product teams to align architecture and verify blocks (UVM-based verification expected).
  • Document designs precisely and communicate with customers and stakeholders as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, team skills, and responsibilities.

Must-have:

  • Proven experience in FPGA development flow and FPGA modelling.
  • Strong Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL design skills; experience with AHB/AXI protocols and ARM-based processor architectures.
  • Experience architecting and specifying complex systems and IP blocks for SoC designs.
  • Experience performing timing, power and CDC analysis and meeting timing/area/low-power/manufacturing test targets.
  • Experience integrating RTL with implementation, verification and analog teams to deliver silicon.
  • Good problem-solving skills, attention to documentation detail, and strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with UVM-based verification and mixed-signal verification/co-simulation.
  • History of acting as design hub across stakeholders (test, application, physical implementation, verification).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related technical field) or equivalent practical experience β€” the posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in place of the degree.
