Job Title

Senior DFX Software Engineer - Machine Learning

Role Summary

Senior software engineer on a DFX/DFT team building methodologies and tools for silicon device testing, silicon debug, failure analysis, and yield learning. The role focuses on high-performance software, graph-based analysis, and applying machine-learning techniques to EDA and failure-analysis workflows.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and deliver scalable solutions that accelerate defect screening and improve product quality.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 5+ years of software development experience as stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop high-performance software to support test-pattern generation, application of patterns on silicon, failure analysis, and yield-learning pipelines.
  • Design and implement efficient parallel graph traversal and graph-analysis techniques for large-scale data.
  • Apply LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, graph-based ML, and reinforcement learning to create automated and scalable EDA solutions.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams across design, test, and analysis to address cross-disciplinary problems.
  • Integrate agent architectures and communication protocols into production workflows for automated analysis and tooling.

Requirements

Minimum and desired technical qualifications:

  • Must-have: 5+ years of software development experience; strong programming skills in Python or C++; solid experience applying LLMs, graph neural networks (GNNs), and reinforcement learning to practical problems.
  • Must-have: Expertise with high-performance algorithms relevant to DFT, simulations, and failure analysis; familiarity with RL algorithms such as PPO, SAC, or Q-learning and experience tuning hyperparameters and reward functions.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with large-scale training techniques (e.g., ZeRO) and big-data processing (e.g., Spark); strong communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Modern C++ development experience; deployed large-scale agentic applications with high concurrency; experience with CAD tools, DFT hardware/software integration, observability/evaluation tooling, fine-tuning LLMs, multi-agent systems, RAG pipelines, and vector databases.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience) is required; MS or higher preferred.
