Job Title
Senior DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Hands-on DFT engineer responsible for design-for-test implementation and verification for advanced-node (3nm/5nm) networking SoCs and related IP. Work includes scan insertion, ATPG, pattern simulation, MBIST and JTAG insertion, silicon bring-up support, and DFT flow automation.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of professional DFT experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Implement DFT for SoC and IP targeting 3nm and 5nm processes.
- Perform RTL checks for scan-insertion compatibility using Synopsys Spyglass.
- Execute scan insertion using Mentor Tessent TestKompress.
- Generate ATPG patterns in compressed and uncompressed modes (Mentor Tessent, Cadence Modus, Synopsys Tetramax).
- Run pattern simulation with and without timing across process corners (using VCS).
- Debug mismatches and failures using Verdi and similar debug tools.
- Develop and maintain DFT automation and flows (DAeRT, Makefile and extended scripting targets).
- Insert and verify MBIST at block and top levels; support silicon debug and bring-up.
- Insert and verify IEEE 1149.1 JTAG.
- Support low-power DFT implementation considerations.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 10+ years of DFT engineering experience (scan insertion, ATPG, pattern simulation).
- Practical experience with MBIST insertion and verification and JTAG insertion/verification.
- Proficient scripting with Perl, Shell, and TCL to automate flows and enhance build targets.
- Experience with Mentor Tessent; familiarity with Cadence Modus and Synopsys Tetramax is expected.
- Experience on multi-million gate-count SoCs and IPs (networking, consumer; PLL, SerDes blocks).
- Proven silicon debug and bring-up experience.
- Strong communication skills.
Education Requirements
B.Tech or M.Tech in Microelectronics, Electronics or a closely related field.
