Senior DFT Engineer, Amazon Leo
AmazonJob Title
Senior DFT Engineer, Amazon Leo
Role Summary
Work on LEO digital SoC design for satellite communications and gateway systems, focusing on design-for-test (DFT) architecture and implementation across advanced CMOS nodes. The team defines modems, high-speed interfaces, embedded processors, and DSP subsystems and collaborates with system, ASIC, RFIC, implementation, and test engineering teams.
Experience Level
Senior level. The role expects experienced engineers (senior-level) with multiple years of DFT experience; specific postings indicate 5+ years with preferred 7+ years for deeper expertise.
Responsibilities
The role involves defining and delivering DFT for multiple chips and ensuring testability across digital and mixed-signal blocks.
- Architect and define DFT solutions tailored to various LEO chips.
- Customize IPs and DFT methodology; adopt AI-assisted flows to improve implementation.
- Integrate DFT logic (MBIST, clock controls, JTAG controllers) with ASIC design teams across sites.
- Collaborate with RFIC engineers to maximize fault coverage for custom RF blocks.
- Ensure blocks meet DFT, timing, and power targets with the implementation team.
- Work with Test Engineering to translate ATE patterns to tester formats and support chip bring-up for digital portions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, plus preferred competencies listed separately.
- 5+ years of experience in advanced DFT techniques for deep sub-micron nodes.
- Experience implementing DFT methodology and developing automated scripts for DFT insertion and validation.
- Familiarity with DFT logic such as MBIST, clock control strategies, and JTAG integration in ASIC flows.
- Experience working with implementation teams to meet timing, power, and testability targets.
- Experience translating ATE patterns and collaborating with test engineering for tester setup and bring-up.
- Preferred: exposure to Logic BIST, mixed-signal/RFIC collaboration, automotive-level quality processes, and AI/ML-based automation for DFT flows.
- Export-control eligibility: candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as refugees or granted asylum.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering. Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical or Communications Engineering.
Additional Information
Location: Imperial Beach, CA. The posting lists a base salary range for San Diego, CA of 185,200 - 250,000 USD annually.
