Job Title

Senior DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Design, implement, and validate design-for-test (DFT) solutions for Arm SoCs. Work within the Hardware Engineering team to insert DFT at RTL and gate levels, produce ATE-targeted test patterns, and support silicon validation.

The role collaborates closely with front-end design, synthesis/place-and-route/static-timing teams, and test/debug teams to ensure DFT features meet timing and silicon test requirements.

Experience Level

Senior. Experience guidance: approximately 3–20 years of relevant DFT or semiconductor test engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing DFT features across the full chip flow and validating them through gate-level verification and silicon testing.

  • Architect and insert DFT logic at RTL and at synthesis/gate levels for SoC designs.
  • Generate ATPG/ATE test patterns and perform fault simulation and diagnostics.
  • Coordinate with front-end, back-end, and STA teams for timing-closure of DFT insertion.
  • Support silicon test and debug, including memory/scan diagnostics and characterization.
  • Validate DFT features on silicon and iterate designs based on test results.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • Practical DFT experience: scan compression/insertion, Memory BIST/repair schemes, Logic BIST, JTAG/IJTAG, at-speed test, ATPG, and fault simulation.
  • Experience with back-annotated gate-level verification and silicon debug.
  • Proficient coding experience with Verilog RTL and scripting (TCL and/or Perl).
  • Familiar and productive in Unix/Linux environments.
  • 3–20 years of relevant semiconductor/DFT engineering experience.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with IEEE 1149, 1500, 1687, 1838 standards.
  • Experience with synthesis and static timing analysis.
  • Knowledge of SoC architectures: multi-clock domains and low-power design practices.
  • Experience with Siemens, Cadence, and/or Synopsys DFT and simulation tool flows; validated understanding of Siemens DFT tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Arm IP (Cortex CPUs, Mali GPUs, AMBA, CoreLink, CoreSight) and advanced test topics (2.5D/3D test).
  • Strong collaboration, time management, and the ability to work independently when required.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field was requested in the source posting.
