Senior DFT Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement design-for-test (DFT) architecture and verification flows for ASIC/SoC projects. Work across pre-silicon verification, gate-level validation, and silicon bring-up with physical design and test engineering teams to ensure testability, yield, and timely product delivery.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting includes degree-based minimum experience guidance (see Education Requirements) but the title indicates a senior-level engineering role.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include defining DFT strategy, implementing verification flows, and supporting silicon bring-up.
- Define and execute end-to-end DFT strategy (Scan, Boundary Scan/JTAG, Memory/Logic BIST).
- Implement RTL DFT insertion and perform pre-silicon verification.
- Develop and run ATPG using industry tools for Stuck-At, At-Speed, Path-Delay tests; apply scan compression and scan data streaming to reduce test time.
- Design and implement MBIST and LBIST architectures in RTL.
- Collaborate with Physical Design to resolve DFT-related timing violations.
- Perform gate-level, timing- and power-aware simulations.
- Support silicon bring-up with Test Engineers: diagnose failing patterns and drive yield improvements.
- Automate DFT insertion and verification flows using scripting (Python, Tcl, Perl).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Hands-on experience with ATPG tools and methodologies.
- Experience with scan compression and scan data streaming techniques.
- Experience implementing MBIST/LBIST in RTL and validating BIST solutions.
- Practical experience with gate-level simulations and timing/power-aware validation.
- Experience collaborating with physical design and test engineering teams for bring-up and yield debug.
- Proficient scripting skills for automation (Python, Tcl, or Perl).
- Experience applying agentic AI tools to optimize semiconductor workflows (preferred/required per posting).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience; OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
