Senior DevOps Software Engineer - Chip Design
Role Summary
Join the Chip Design Technologies group to build and operate software infrastructure and tooling that support chip design and verification workflows. The role focuses on automation, CI/CD data flows, compute and storage infrastructure, and platform reliability for large-scale design compute farms.
Work closely with design, verification, and methodology teams to remove engineering bottlenecks and improve productivity through infrastructure solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β 5+ years of experience in Python infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or similar roles supporting Linux-based compute and storage systems.
Responsibilities
The role combines infrastructure ownership, automation development, and operational responsibility for compute and storage systems used in chip design.
- Collaborate with Design, Verification, and Methodology teams to identify workflow bottlenecks and deliver infrastructure solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain Python-based automation for chip design flows, monitoring, and tooling.
- Operate and scale compute infrastructure: capacity planning, performance tuning, and integrity of compute and storage systems.
- Own platform health: incident response, triage, root-cause fixes, and measures to ensure high availability.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines, data flows, and observability (metrics, logs, tracing) for internal tooling and services.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Python infrastructure engineering, focused on automation or tooling for Linux-based compute and storage systems.
- Strong DevOps and automation development expertise (CI/CD, orchestration, scripting).
- Solid Linux systems fundamentals: processes, networking, filesystems; practical experience managing NFS, permissions, and quotas.
- Proven incident response experience and a track record of owning high-availability systems.
- Operational experience with large-scale compute farms and storage systems.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with hardware verification workflows and semiconductor compute/storage requirements.
- Hands-on experience with observability stacks, databases for metrics/logs/tracing, and alert tuning.
- Experience building internal REST services, service accounts, and secrets management.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement efficiency improvements in infrastructure workflows.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
