Senior Device Modeling Engineer
Allegro MicroSystemsJob Title
Senior Device Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Grenoble TMR technology centre to design and develop TMR transducers for magnetic sensor products. You will work with design, system, and layout engineers to turn physics and characterization data into manufacturable transducer designs.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on device design, simulation, process compliance, and integration of TMR technology from R&D into product.
Experience Level
Senior level (title contains "Senior"). No explicit years-of-experience requirement stated.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include device design, simulation, process compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Design and develop TMR transducers and their physical layouts to meet datasheet and product requirements.
- Run simulations and analyze characterization data using MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools to evaluate transducer performance and interactions with silicon.
- Apply theoretical magnetism and spin-electronics knowledge to solve design challenges and improve performance.
- Follow defined processes to ensure product performance, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support technology transfer and integration of R&D innovations into production designs through performance analysis and feedback.
- Analyze limitations of existing transducers and provide data-driven recommendations for roadmap improvements.
- Maintain project timelines, provide regular updates, and exercise judgment within defined practices.
- Collaborate across teams and act as a technical resource for magnetism-related topics.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and professional abilities.
- Strong background in magnetism, spin electronics, and magnetic thin-film properties.
- Basic understanding of semiconductor fabrication and magnetic thin-film process integration.
- Proficiency with data analysis, design of experiments, and statistical methods.
- Experience using MATLAB and/or Python for simulation and data analysis.
- Ability to apply organized, rational problem-solving linking physical concepts to design decisions.
- Fluent in English with clear written and oral communication for technical reviews.
- Able to work under general instruction for routine tasks and follow detailed guidance on new assignments.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. in Physics, Magnetism, Electrical Engineering or related field (new Ph.D. graduates welcome); OR Master’s degree in engineering; OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Related technical fields and equivalent practical experience are acceptable.
