Job Title
Senior Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Design Verification Engineer performs pre-silicon functional verification of digital IP blocks developed by the Austin Digital IP team. The role creates verification plans, implements SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and assertions, analyzes coverage, debugs failures, and helps ensure IP meets product and industry requirements.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 4 years of IP or SoC design or verification experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities focus on verification planning, test development, environment maintenance, and cross-team coordination.
- Define and write IP verification plans from requirements, architecture, and implementation specs.
- Create stimulus and testcases in SystemVerilog (UVM): random, algorithmic, and directed tests.
- Develop SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) and coverage properties aligned to the verification plan.
- Implement monitors, drivers, response checkers and SVAs; integrate into UVM testbenches.
- Maintain verification environment components, scripts, and Makefiles.
- Debug failing tests to identify root cause (tools, testcases, checkers, RTL) and drive resolution.
- Collect and analyze code and functional coverage; design additional scenarios to close coverage gaps.
- Perform assertion-based formal verification for blocks and IPs as required.
- Collaborate with architecture, design and verification teams to verify in-house and 3rd-party IP.
Requirements
Practical skills and experience required and preferred for the role.
Must-have:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in IP or SoC design or verification.
- Proficient in Verilog and SystemVerilog, with strong UVM experience.
- Proven verification skills: test planning, testbench development, simulation and debug.
- Experience using AI/ML tools to improve workflow and productivity.
- Ability to work independently and in small teams without close supervision.
Nice-to-have:
- Programming skills: Python, C/C++, Perl, TCL.
- RTL design experience, synthesis knowledge, and familiarity with static and formal checkers.
- Knowledge of ARM AMBA protocols.
Education Requirements
Minimum: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (BSEE/BSCE/BSCS). Advanced degree (MSEE/MSCE/MSCS) is a plus.
