Senior Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on processor design verification by developing internal processor models and automated test generators to validate RTL and SoC features. Collaborate with CPU designers, compiler and performance teams, and system verification to produce self-checking tests and close verification plans.

Primary focus areas: RTL/Chisel verification, random instruction test generation, and testbench/tool development for processor verification.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and implement internal processor models that reflect RISC-V features and SiFive extensions.
• Develop a random instruction test generator that creates self-checking directed tests.
• Generate automated test cases to meet cross-team verification needs (CPU, compiler, performance, system verification).
• Implement tools, testbenches, and test suites using C/C++/Python; integrate with RTL/system simulation flows (SystemVerilog knowledge is a plus).
• Review product specifications from a verification perspective and collaborate on test plans and failure analysis.
• Perform coverage analysis, failure diagnosis, and verification closure activities.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of recent experience with verification tools and methodologies (RTL simulation, wave tracing, scripting).
• Experience with embedded toolchain command-line tools (gcc, as, gdb, etc.).
• Familiarity with or ability to learn Chisel/Scala-based flows and non-standard verification languages.
• Solid understanding of processor and SoC architecture or a strong ability to learn them quickly.
• Practical knowledge of the verification flow: test plan generation, test generation, failure analysis, coverage analysis, and closure.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; commitment to product quality.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience prototyping and debugging on FPGA platforms.
• Familiarity with SystemVerilog testbenches and advanced verification methodologies.
