Senior Design Evaluation Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Design Evaluation Engineer performs post-silicon validation and characterization for power-control integrated circuits. The role supports the Power Control team in Durham, NC, working with IC designers, applications, and test teams to validate device performance and deliver production-ready data.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on test development, characterization, and cross-functional collaboration to validate new silicon.
- Perform IC characterization at the bench level, produce correlation analyses and summary reports.
- Develop hardware and software to fully characterize new silicon and validate design performance.
- Create test interfaces and exercise devices via SPI, I2C, USB, UART, GPIB and similar buses.
- Plan and execute bench tests, including pre- and post-silicon activities; provide technical input before tape-out.
- Automate lab equipment and test sequences to increase throughput and repeatability.
- Troubleshoot prototypes, report early bugs, and assist with failure analysis and design correlation.
- Work on multi-site, cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Support aggressive project schedules and travel approximately 10% as required.
- Apply modern tools, including AI-assisted methods, to accelerate test development and execution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 4+ years of hands-on post-silicon validation experience, including bench-level characterization.
- Working knowledge of lab equipment: DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer.
- Experience automating lab equipment and tests using Python, LabVIEW, or C++.
- Familiarity with design and PCB layout or simulation tools such as SPICE, PADs logic, ORCAD, or Allegro.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for global team interactions.
- Proven ownership of projects from definition through delivery and documentation.
- Willingness to travel ~10% and work first-shift/day schedule.
Education Requirements
MSEE or BSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) as stated in the minimum qualifications.
